ECONOMIC & PUBLIC POLICY BREAKFAST FORUM:
Merger of North Shore Technical School
and Essex Agricultural School

Wednesday, November 7, 2007
Danversport Yacht Club
7:30am- 9:00am

Three out of every four applicants to North Shore Technical High School get turned away from due to lack of space, in one of the richest Regions in America. The need for a new Regional Technical School has never been more apparent.

"We live in an historic area, where we celebrate the accomplishments of the generations that preceded us and advanced our region culturally, educationally and economically. My question is: what will future generations remember of us? What is our legacy culturally, educationally, and economically? Will future generations regret that fact that this region does not include a comprehensive, modern, regional/technical high school for example? Will we avoid short term costs at the expense of the much longer term advantage to our region in the form of a workforce that includes technical secondary school graduates?"

- Dr. Wayne Burton, incoming Chairman of the North Shore Chamber of Commerce and President of North Shore Community College.

Come and learn why this proposed merger is important to the future of your business!

On Wednesday, November 7,  2007, at 7:30a.m, the North Shore Chamber of Commerce Economic & Public Policy Breakfast Forum at the Danversport Yacht Club will feature an update on the proposed merger of North Shore Technical School and Essex Agricultural Technical School.

The North Shore Chamber of Commerce recognizes that the future economic success and social well-being of this region is, in part, linked with a “new” regional vocational and technical school created from the merger of North Shore Technical School, Essex Agricultural School and Peabody Vocational School. The new campus will be located on Essex Aggie property, adjacent to North Shore Community College, and will be easily accessed by business and residents throughout the region.

The Chamber feels a “new” North Shore Tech School is critical for economic development and job creation with regard to worker training and retraining and by offering our younger citizens more opportunities and needed skills. It is the citizens of the region who benefit when efforts are made to make the North Shore attractive to growing firms looking for a favorable climate in which to locate and expand.

Local officials, members of the North Shore Legislative delegation, and others involved and impacted by this important venture will be in attendance.
